Reviews

Palazzo Massarucci has in the past been available for let from various online holiday property letting sites. Below are real reviews from guests who stayed at the property over the years…

Dream castle holiday
My dream of having a dream castle holiday finally came true as an early Christmas present. Two weeks in Palazzo Massarucci was everything I dreamed of, from the beautiful decor to the most comfortable beds I’d ever slept in, and so cosy with the open fire place too.
The views from the pool are simply breath taking and early morning walks in the forest are a must. I simply cannot wait to go back and relive a dream come true.

We love this place very much. All is perfect. Our journey at Palazzo Massarucci was wonderfull.
Lots of space in the house, which is very comfortable when there are so many little children. It is very well equiped with all kitchen, linen and garden accessories; which is also very appriciated. The small coffee shop in front on the house is a MUST! It is very convinient and the owners are very nice.

Umbrian Retreat

We rented the Palazzo for 4 weeks last summer, staying 2 weeks with 2 other families and 2 weeks with other members of our family. It was idyllic – a once-in-a-lifetime experience. While it is a bit of a drive from anywhere, the beauty of the setting and the spaciousness of the house are ample trade-offs. Even during the hottest days of August, it cooled off beautifully at night and the pool provided recreation and relaxation.
Be aware that it is remotely located. Once we found the “secret back road” to Spoleto, that cut our drive there to about 20 minutes, where there are good-size grocery stores and other urban amenities. However, to get almost anywhere in Umbria took only an hour or two and we were able to take in so many of the delights of this less-known region. But you are also in the mountainous heart of Umbria, with its farms and forests. We even saw an entire family of wild boar cross the road right in front of us one night when returning from a sagra (local food festival – not to be missed!).
The village is charming and provided a great setting to explore and settle in. The local restaurant is excellent and was very accomodating in providing two spectacular dinners for our groups. There is another restaurant just 5 minutes away that made some of the best pizza you could ever want, with an incredible variety of toppings, including truffles!
Spoleto is a great place to explore and very walkable (although a little hilly). Other locations worth visiting: Norcia and the Piano Grande, Montefalco, Orvieto, and Deruta. Assisi is also easy to get to.
We will certainly be returning to Umbria and the Palazzo helped to make the trip there even more magical.

Great place – we had a big group (17 adults and 5 kids!)and this was such a big rambling building that it absorbed all of us and we weren’t on top of each other.
The bedrooms are quite varied – some being really amazing, and others not in the same league.
All-in it is a fabulous classic old building with loads of original features and eccentricities – lovely pool, great views over the mountains, lots of toys for children.
we loved it and had a magical time there

Magical italian get-away
We had a family reunion at the Malazzo Massarucci. It was magical. The ‘castle’ as we called it is beautiful, the interior design is unusual and charming, spectacular views, green and lush — we felt a world away from anywhere and yet we were just a short walk from cafes and local shops and an easy drive to Spoleto or Rome. There are places to explore in the area but we found it hard to tear ourselves away. Everything was well kept and in good working order and owner was very helpful, gave us lots of suggestions and made the renting process very easy. Would definitely recommend this for a reunion, large gathering or celebration for a special occasion.
